Joshua Choi

Clarinet/E-flat Clarinet

Joshua Choi joined the San Francisco Opera Orchestra in 2025 and holds the 2nd and E-flat Clarinet chair. He is an emerging orchestral musician and soloist recognized for his refined artistry and musical creativity. His recent performance highlights include Mozart's Clarinet Concerto with the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra at the Aspen Music Festival and Carnegie Hall recital debut in November 2024 as an artist of the Korean Music Foundation. He has appeared in the Ghent International and ADR International Clarinet Competitions and has earned top prizes in the International Clarinet Association and Camerata Artists International competitions.

In demand as an orchestral musician, Joshua has also collaborated with ensembles such as The Metropolitan Opera and the New World Symphony, and served as Principal Clarinetist of the New York Youth Symphony from 2021 to 2023. In 2022, the New York Youth Symphony received the Grammy Award for Best Orchestral Performance.

Joshua received his bachelor's degree from the Juilliard School, where he studied with clarinetist, Charles Neidich as a Kovner Fellow. Joshua also studied with Ayako Oshima Neidich, Laura Flax, and his father, Seungho Choi.
