Siegfried
Overview
Fearless and naïve, the young hero Siegfried forges his father’s broken sword, slays a dragon, and gains sudden wisdom from its blood. Learning that his guardian Mime plans to betray him, Siegfried kills him and follows a bird’s guidance to Brünnhilde, asleep behind a wall of fire. He awakens her with a kiss, and the two fall in love—unaware of the tragedy still to come.
