Condemned
George Coles-El
Pen and Pencil on Paper, 28x11”
2025

When approached about this project, the first word that came to me was the label they place on people living on death row: Condemned. Then I did not want the word floating in space so I wrapped a generic prison around it. Afterward, I tried to make it appear run-down, dilapidated, and neglected, all while making sure the letters could stand out and be at least partially legible.

George Coles-El, better known as Mesro the Human Sun, is a graffiti artivist- an artist that is an activist- that started life in Any Ghetto, USA. Mesro uses graffiti art to generate awareness about social issues and to combat everything that harms human beings on earth. When he is not drawing, Mesro spends time writing about everything, gaming with his friends, and exercising living amends through social outreach and artistic expression.
