Kelm, Claire

Soprano

Claire Kelm, a native of Latrobe, PA, has enjoyed a varied and wide-ranging career, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She joined the San Francisco Opera Chorus in 1999. She has performed with Berkeley Opera, San Jose Lyric Theatre, Lamplighters Music Theatre, and TheatreWorks in the roles ranging from Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Anna in The Merry Widow, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, and First Lady in The Magic Flute, to various Gilbert and Sullivan heroines -- Ida in Princess Ida, Elsie in Yeomen of the Guard, and Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore.

She has been heard as a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, American Bach Soloists, San Francisco Bach Choir, San Francisco Boys Chorus, San Francisco Choral Artists, Schola Cantorum, Magnificat, Soli Deo Gloria, and Baroque Choral Guild (now Cantabile), Coro Hispano de San Francisco, Sacramento Chamber Orchestra, and the Latin American Chamber Music Society. She toured and recorded for five years with Paul Hillier’s Theatre of Voices, and was a founding member of the Philharmonia Baroque Chorale, American Bach Soloists Choir, and most recently, the Artists Vocal Ensemble (AVE).

Ms. Kelm holds degrees from Stanford University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has recorded for Harmonia Mundi, Koch International, and Reference Recordings.
